Hello, I have words for you for "Chickenpox for Christmas," which your site says you'd like words for. I took them off of a CD called "Children's novelty dances" produced by Kimbo Educational. No author is listed, so it's a mystery to me where the song comes from.
Anne K. Reference librarian, CT
Scratch, scratch. Itch, Itch,
Golly Gee.I'm as sad as I can be.
Jimmy got an electric train. Johnny got an aeroplane.
It's only natural I complain, I got the chicken pox for Christmas!
I was gay and full of glee
Then came this awful tragedy.
Everything seems to happen to me.
I got the Chicken Pox for Christmas!
No fun no games, no friends no joys
I can't even play with my Christmas toys
Christmas Day is not so hot
When you're coverd all over in big red spots
Santa tried the best he could to give me the gifts he thought he should
Just When I tried to be so good I got the Chicken Pox for Christmas.
Santa tried the best he could to give me the gifts he thought he should
Just When I tried to be so good I got the Chicken Pox for Christmas.
PR: Thanks very much for these additional lyrics.
And from from Robin V Hi,
I came across your site while trying to find some information concerning this song I have a copy of this song on a 45 but the record label does not give the singer. It lists copyright 1956 Doris Slater-Martin and in ink has been written Vanessa Sands. I have added the rest of the words in blue (Edit. Note, the same as above) and have attached an MP3 file of the record (not available onsite-PR)
Regards, Robin

Kookaburra & Land of the Silver Birch From Kelly in Manitoba:
I believe we had several folk songs in Manitoba taught to us in school in the 60's and 70's. I remember these in this way. . .
*Kookaburra (This can be sung as a 2-part round PR)
Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree
Eating all the gumdrops he can see
Laugh, kookaburra laugh kookaburra
Gay your life must be.
*Playmate -which see on the “P” page
*Land of the Silver Birch (sung as a round with *My Paddle’s Keen and Bright)
Group A
Land of the silverbirch, home of the beaver,
where still the mighty moose, wanders at will
blue lakes and rocky shores, I will return once more
boom ditty Ida, boom ditty Ida, boo-ooo-ooom
Group B
*My paddle's keen and bright, flashing with silver
Follow the wild goose flight, dip, dip and swing
Dip, dip and swing it back, flashing with silver
Swift as the wild goose flies, dip, dip and swing
Kelly
PR Thank you for those memories.

I'll eat some worms and then I'll Die From Claudia J. K
when I was born my maw and paw
they looked at me and said oh pshaw
my uncle said it's a girl, I think
and paw went out to get a drink
they always always pick on me
they never ever let me be
I'm awwww-fully lonesome
I'm awwww-fully sad
It's been a long, long time since I've been glad
by and bye I know what I'll do
I'll eat some worms and then I'll die and
then
they'll
all
be
sorry
that
they
picked
on
me!
PR Thanks so much!
