H(con’t)
The "bible" of American folkmusic, "Folksongs of North America",by Alan Lomax (1969) credits Carl Sandburg's "American Songbag", p.140 (another wonderful source of N. Amer. folk material). He (C.S.)includes, if you don't already know it:

I had a gal and her name was Daisy,
And when she sang the cat went crazy
With deliriums - St. Vituses -
And all kinds of cataleptics.

Terrible(!)punning, eh [>:)?

From: Steve W,  Dear Phyllis & Walter – Thanx for your reply and the Daisy verse.  Now that you put it in front of me, I remember that one too.

THE HUT- SUT SONG
Q. From: B. B. [2008]: Perhaps you can help. . . I'm looking for (if memory serves) a college song that has these words: I believe it starts out "Husit braw, sittin in the
rilla raw, suet, suet, suet..." I thought it might have been in a foreign
language. My mom used to sing it, but that is all I can remember of it.

A.  Here you are. It did take a bit of time to find this one. There are also many interesting and amusing sites for "mondegreens" which contain “mishearings” of many  lyrics. This is but a starter: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mondegreen

A1. Ed Note: As a child , I heard “Hut-Sut Rawlson” as “Hut-Sut Raltson” and could not figure out the connection between a hot breakfast cereal and the rest of the lyrics. . .

The Hut-Sut Song as done by Horace Heidt
Words and music by Leo V. Killion, Ted McMichael & Jack Owens

<verse>
In a town in Sweden by a stream so clear and cool
A boy would sit and fish and dream
when he should have been in school. Now, he couldn't read or write a word
but happiness he found
In a little song he heard -- and here's how it would sound;

<chorus>
Hut-Sut Rawlson on the rillerah and a brawla, brawla sooit,
Hut-Sut Rawlson on the rillerah and a brawla sooit. Hut-Sut Rawlson on the
rillerah and a brawla, brawla sooit,
Hut-Sut Rawlson on the rillerah and a brawla sooit.
 Now the Rawlson is a Swedish town, the rillerah is a stream. The brawla is
the boy and girl,
The Hut-Sut is their dream.
 Hut-Sut Rawlson on the rillerah and a brawla, brawla sooit. Hut-Sut
Rawlson on the rillerah and a brawla sooit.

Thanks so much I really appreciate it. The pieces have been rolling around
in my head for awhile. Finally decided to investigate it, as I did shoo fly
Pie, and Marching Thru Georgia. B.B.
