B (con’t)
From: Bill D: Hi Laura C., I remember Buffalo as a child (now 52) and part of the song goes:
Oh I used to have a honeybun
And she was doin' fine
Until the day she told me that
She loved a friend of mine
I met the guy on Monday, and when I said hello
He said they were eloping on a train to Buffalo CHOR
Hope that helps,
Bill
THE BULL-DOG
From Joy C.
1. Oh! the bull-dog on the bank
And the bull-frog in the pool. The bull-dog called the bull-frog
A green old water fool.
CHORUS. Singing tra la la la la la la, (leil-i-o)
Singing tra la la la la la la, (leil-i-o)
Singing tra la la la la la, singing tra la la la la la,
Tra la la la, tra la la la, tra la la la la la, (leil-i-o)
2. Oh! the bull-dog stooped to catch him
And the snapper caught his paw. The pollywog died laughing,
To see him wag his jaw.
3. Says the monkey to the owl:
"Oh! what'll you have to drink?"
"Why, since you are so very kind,
I'll take a bottle of ink."
4. Oh! the bull-dog in the yard,
And the tom-cat on the roof,
Are practicing the Highland Fling,
And singing opera bouffe.
5. Says the tom-cat to the dog:
"Oh! set your ears agog,
For Jule's about to tete-a-tete
With Romeo, incog."
6. Says the bull-dog to the cat:
"Oh! what do you think they're at?
They're spooning in the dead of night:
But where's the harm in that?"
7. Pharaoh's daughter on the bank,
Little Moses in the pool,
Pharaoh's daughter on the bank,
Little Moses in the pool. Pharaoh's daughter on the bank,
Little Moses in the pool. She fished him out with a telegraph pole,
And sent him off to school.
BURNT HORSE FLESH (In the Little Pants. . . See the “I” page)
From Jeff C: When I was a kid my mother had a handwritten song book which she used to sing from. One song she sang was about a little boy who wore *pants his mother made for him. I just remember the phrase "in the little pants my mother made for me" ( see title on “I” page)
