2] THE SONGS, WHO WROTE THEM?
Q. From W: Who wrote the wonderful songs on your internet site?
A. I wish I knew [:>)! Seriously, the music is traditional and (except for this music exchange page) in the public domain. By and large I used traditional lyrics, as well, occasionally changing around some text --- but that, after all, is part of the folk tradition.
3] SONGS OF THE 20S,30S AND 40S?
Q: From M: Do you have any suggestions as to where we can get words to songs of the 20s,30s and 40s? I'm 71, and in my youth, you could buy publications in magazine departments of "words". No longer available anywhere. . not even by collectors. Mom in nursing home now. . . and this is one of her most fond memories.
A. Please see the Welcome Note at the top of this page. I found excellent sites for lyrics merely by using "Google" and entering "song lyrics" for the search --- lots, lots, lots of sites come up. Try the University of Indiana site or for folkmusic lyrics the Mudcat Café, (both listed above, with links) which will lead you to approx 10,000 folksongs of all descriptions. For specific songs (eg. songs from Broadway musicals, or particular movies), try the title of the show, if you can't find information about the song itself
4] CONSIDER USING A SEARCH ENGINE AS YOU WOULD A SHOVEL --- do a little diggin'!
