Here, the "island" is attached to the original layout and the new inner track roadbed can be seen making the transition between new and old. Also, last year a turnout was added to the track into the logging operation near the tunnel, which provides a nice siding next to the main line for log carrying freight cars.

 

These and other modifications required re-routing of vehicle roads, which at this point are in basic white plaster condition; You would not want to drive on them yet!
