"Tommy, Tammy,
lunch is ready," called their mother. "Tammy, Tommy,
where are my little children?"
"I'm not `your little children,' I'm a pussycat," said
Tommy.

"I'm not `your little
kids,' I'm a pussycat, too" said
Tammy."
"Well, excuse me!" said their mother, but, my lovely
kittens, it's time for your lunch ."
"Miaow," said Tammy as she washed her hands.
"Miaow," said Tommy, as he sat down.
"Purrrrrrrr," said the twins, as they ate their lunch,
and lapped up the milk in the saucers in front of them.
Later, when they went to the food store, a kind old man smiled
and said, "My, what a nice little girl and boy."
"I'm not a little girl," said Tammy, "I'm a pussycat.
Miaow."
"I'm not a little boy," said Tommy, "I'm a pussycat,
too. Miaow."
"Well," said the kind old man, "You're the first
pussycats I've ever seen pushing shopping carts. Miaow to you,
too!"

And he walked away smiling.
